We often get asked about local beach rules concerning dogs.  Below is a list of local beaches with relevant dog information and hours.

Folly Beach Dog Rules

While dogs are allowed on Folly Beach year-round, from May 1 to September 30 dogs are not allowed on the beach between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. A maximum fine of $500 can be issued to anyone who breaks this rule. Dogs must be on a leash while on the beach and under control by their owners. As always, dog waste must be picked up by pet owners.

Sullivan’s Island Dog Rules

All dogs must have a valid Sullivan’s Island Dog Permit.  Permits can be purchased for $35 at the Town Hall.

During the summer season (May 1 to Sept. 30) dogs are allowed off-leash from 5am to 10am and on-leash from 6pm to 5am.  Dogs are not allowed on the beach from 10am to 6pm during the summer season.  During the winter season (Oct. 1 to April 30) dogs are allowed off-leash from 5am to 12pm and on-leash from 12pm to 5am.

Isle Of Palms Dog Rules

Dogs are allowed on the beach year round.  Off-leash hours during the summer season (April 1 to Sept. 14) are from 5am to 9am.  Off-leash hours during the winter season (Sept. 15 to March 31) are from 4pm to 10am.  When off-leash, dog owners must have leash in hand, have their dog under voice command and must clean up excrement.  At all other times, dogs must be on leash and under complete control, even in the water.
